Project: Water tank design

Description

Quinta de Soã Miguel is a family owned farm located in the city, Leiria, on top of a hill. This farm is an idyllic and inspiring place to be and work. The farm used to produce organic wine, but now is in transition to become a permaculture farm with fruits, nuts, olives and vegetables and where permaculture courses and workshops will be given regularly. A clever irrigation system, which was used for wine production, with different water tanks, gutters and rainwater catchment areas is still in place. One of these water tanks, with its straight walls, we have transformed into a place with multiple planting zones and different possibilities for wildlife to make it their habitat. We have used only re-used materials, which were locally available.
