Project: Community Forest Garden
Description
The Biospheric Project is located in the densely populated city of Salford and is a place, were community, research and food production come together. Over the coming 10 years, an eco-system will be established with the use of the principles of nature to create a forest garden that can last for generations to come.
The forest garden is a highly productive eco-system with a large variety of crops existing out of more then 30 species of trees and more then 50 plant species; including fruits, berries, perennial vegetables, medicinal plants, herbs/spices, edible flowers and other supportive species.
During the Manchester International Festival in 2013, the Biospheric Project took take part as venue to demonstrate sustainable urban ecological systems, including the forest garden.
