Project: School gardening program

Description

We have set up the school gardening programme in Nepal, a programme that brings sustainable agricultural activities to schools and enhances its curriculum. The garden makes an excellent classroom for practical learning for existing subjects and new subjects.

As gardening becomes part of their school activities, the children will get a new set of skills and make healthy nutritious food more accessible. The children are also stimulated to begin a garden at home which makes it an opportunity for intergenerational learning. By empowering the children and their families to become more self-dependent and self-sufficient, resilience against the negative effects of climate change will be higher as well as resilience for the effects of a strong earthquake, when food becomes scarce.
